Adult Program
Our Adult Program offers a safe refuge from abuse while providing counseling on the dynamics of abuse. We strive to reduce the feelings of isolation, shame, and guilt that a survivor may experience while decreasing the symptoms of victimization. The Bethany House Adult Program provides victims with case management services and acts as an advocate on their behalf, referring them to community, legal and social service resources. Adult participants learn about the effects of violence on children, safety planning, financial education, and receive assistance in filing for crime compensation and securing victim notification. Former Bethany House residents are contacted regularly to ensure their continued emotional and physical well-being. Along with our programs that provide direct assistance for victims of abuse, Bethany House serves as a strong public advocate for the safety of women and children across northwest Ohio. In 2012, through a joint award from Job & Family Services and the YMCA, our staff and clients received the Bridges Out of Poverty training. This training is designed to assist clients in breaking the cycle of poverty. Adult survivors at Bethany completed the fifteen-week curriculum and were paid a stipend at the end of the course. Following the program, 20 survivors were successful in finding employment.
